Jennifer Bennett Dessert is (in no particular order) a writer, musician, performing artist, and educator. In her 20-year career in Washington State, Hungary, Southern Spain, and Kansas, she has written three children´s books and an album with her own songs. She has an MA from Central Washington University in Theatre Production and has participated in a myriad of theatre projects, as an actress, director, writer, translator, and puppet designer. She created and performed in her own vintage jazz and folk bands in Granada, Spain and now performs in the Lawrence band, The Rambling Roses. She has taught voice, ukulele, English, Spanish, children´s theatre, and drama to students from kindergarten to university. She currently teaches English and theatre at Saint Matthew Catholic School in Topeka, directs the Lawrence Arts Center’s Ukulele Orchestra and performs with Card Table Theatre and the LAC.Browse All Classes

Work as a group to create comic, vibrant ukulele performances in an orchestral setting. We'll sing and play pop, rock, and vintage favorites as well as write our own songs. You will need your own ukulele and feel somewhat comfortable with strumming and basic chords. Class will be held in the Preschool.
