Students will learn the basics of creating jewelry with sheet metal. We will do a pendant the first few classes that involves sawing, sanding, filing, soldering, and setting a stone. When that project is complete, students will be able to choose additional projects. Things like rings, earrings, pendants, bracelets, and small sculpture are all options to explore. Students may want to bring in small stones for first their first project. Copper and first stone provided, silver available for sale during class (expect first projects to cost $5-10 if working with silver).

Ceramics Open Studio

Ceramics Open Studio

Open Studio is for advanced-level students who want to work independently. At least four ceramics classes at the Lawrence Arts Center are required before signing up for Open Studio. Fees include equipment use, firing, and basic glazes. Participants must provide their own clay. Unless posted otherwise, participants have open access to the studio during business hours; however, scheduled classes have studio right-of-way. Students must attend a mandatory meeting at 6:30 pm Tuesday, January 16th in the studio.
